Next Fabrication is a six-year-old manufacturing company that specializes in producing parts and systems for the renewable energy sector.

Next Fabrication currently holds a team of around 80 engineers and technicians, including specialized inspectors who are deployed to client facilities overseas.

For Thirumanaran, this initially presented a number of operational hurdles.

While short-term inspection assignments in Morocco and India could be managed under business visas or existing regional entities, longer-term project requirements in Mexico and Brazil required local work permits and full statutory compliance.

Establishing temporary legal entities in every project destination was simply not viable for short contract durations.

“If we established a company for each hire, then what happens after six months?” Thirumaran explains. “We didn’t want to get into that.”

There were also challenges in getting work permits for staff, which Thirumaran recalls was taking “a lot of time”.

“Then came issues with language, people, and culture,” he adds. Focusing on manual compliance and foreign statutory setup threatened to distract Next Fabrication’s leadership from its core priority of technical execution for clients.

The VP therefore began his search for a “global partner who could support me in getting these things done – an Employer of Record who manages all the legal entities, all the processes.”

Taking this approach has allowed Next Fabrication to onboard technical talent at pace, without establishing temporary local legal entities.

Additionally, when the company wished to expand its footprint to include 16 hires in Brazil, the leadership team worked directly with Multiplier to establish volume-based service fee adjustments.

“When increasing headcount, we asked for a reduction in the basic administration and service fees charges” recalls Thirumaran. “Our CSM took it up and we got a good, fair price. That is a very good thing.”
