Frequently Asked Questions

Want to get the most out of Multiplier?

What is Multiplier?

Multiplier is the Global Exchange for Work — an Employer of Record (EOR) and global payroll platform that lets you hire employees and contractors in 160+ countries without setting up a local legal entity. Multiplier becomes the legal employer in each country, handling payroll, tax compliance, benefits, and local labor law through our own entities — not a third-party partner network.

What is the Global Exchange for Work?

The Global Exchange for Work is the infrastructure that lets countries, companies, and talent transact compliantly across borders. It's built on three parts: an Exchange (where participants meet), an Architecture (owned legal entities, native payroll engines, and compliance frameworks across 160+ countries), and an Ecosystem (15+ integrations including Workday, HiBob, and BambooHR).

Because we own this infrastructure end-to-end, one team is accountable across every market and there's no partner relay when something needs fixing.

What's the difference between Global Payroll and Employer of Record?

Global Payroll is for companies that already have legal entities abroad and need to run payroll for employees they legally employ themselves. EOR services is for companies without a local entity — Multiplier becomes the legal employer on your behalf. Both run on the same native multi-country payroll infrastructure, so switching between them doesn't mean switching systems.

Who uses Multiplier?

2,700+ companies globally, from startups hiring their first international employee to enterprises managing 500+ distributed team members. There's no minimum headcount so you can start with even one hire.

Is Multiplier the right fit for my company?

Multiplier is built for companies hiring in countries where they don't have a registered legal entity, and it works at any company size or growth stage. Here’s more from companies who’ve scaled using Multiplier.

Why does Multiplier publish its pricing?

Multiplier is the only global employment infrastructure that tells you the full cost before you sign, and doesn't change that number after you do. This is possible because we own our employment infrastructure end-to-end, so we control costs directly instead of passing through third-party or local vendor markups. Published pricing is a transparency commitment.

How much does Multiplier's Employer of Record plan cost?

Core plan: $459/month billed annually, or $499/month billed monthly.

Growth plan: $519/month billed annually, or $559/month billed monthly.

Enterprise: custom PEPM pricing based on scope.

No setup, onboarding, or offboarding fees on any tier.

How much does the Contractor of Record cost?

Contractor of Record pricing starts at $399 per contractor per month.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. Multiplier charges a flat monthly management fee per tier — no setup fees, no offboarding fees, no FX markups. Statutory employment costs (social contributions, mandatory benefits) vary by country and show up in the employee cost calculator before you hire, not as a surprise later.

Does Multiplier charge for onboarding or offboarding employees?

No. Onboarding and offboarding are included in the standard monthly management fee, with no one-time activation charge per employee.

Is there a minimum contract length or minimum number of employees?

No. There's no minimum headcount and no minimum contract term. You can start with a single hire and cancel anytime.

What currencies does Multiplier accept?

USD, SGD, AUD, EUR, and GBP for billing. Contractor payments also support multi-currency and select cryptocurrency payouts.

Does Multiplier charge FX markups on currency conversion?

No. Multiplier uses the prevailing mid-market exchange rate without adding a markup.

How many countries does Multiplier cover?

160+ countries across NAMER, EMEA, APAC, and LatAm — including the US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, Singapore, India, Brazil, the Philippines, and the UAE.

Does Multiplier use its own entities or work through local partners?

Multiplier operates through our own legal entities in every country — not a third-party partner network. When something needs resolving in a specific market, a Multiplier team member in that market owns it. There's no handoff to an outside operator.

Which countries are not supported?

Can Multiplier support hiring in the United States?

Yes. Multiplier handles federal and state tax withholding, benefits, payroll, and compliance for US-based employees across all 50 states. See the US state employment guides.

Who is the legal employer when I use Multiplier?

Multiplier's local entity becomes the legal employer of record in each country, handling statutory compliance, tax withholding, and benefit obligations — while the employee works under your day-to-day direction.

How does Multiplier handle payroll compliance?

Payroll runs through our own locally registered entities, ensuring compliance with national tax requirements, statutory deductions, and reporting obligations, at 99.95% payroll accuracy. When something goes wrong, the same local team that runs payroll resolves it — not a third-party escalation chain.

What is permanent establishment risk, and how does Multiplier prevent it?

Permanent establishment (PE) risk happens when a company's in-country activity triggers local tax obligations without a registered entity there. Multiplier's EOR structure makes Multiplier the registered employer, which protects your company from inadvertent PE exposure.

Is Multiplier GDPR compliant?

Yes. Multiplier holds ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR certifications, and data processing agreements are available for customers in GDPR jurisdictions. These certifications are included in the standard service — not a premium add-on.

What happens when local labor laws change?

Multiplier's in-country compliance teams monitor legislative changes in every market and update employment contracts and payroll configurations ahead of statutory changes taking effect.

Can Multiplier handle contractors as well as employees?

Yes. Multiplier's Contractor of Record service includes worker classification checks, compliant contractor agreements, multi-currency payments, and benefits administration.

What benefits can employees receive through Multiplier?

Locally compliant, country-specific benefits like health insurance, retirement contributions, statutory leave, and supplementary benefits like meal allowances where applicable and tailored to local market norms rather than one global standard. Multiplier also administers ESOPs in most jurisdictions.

What does Multiplier's Localized Benefits product include?

Country-specific and global benefits packages tailored to local market norms and your team's needs, administered directly through the platform alongside payroll and compliance — not as a separate bolt-on system.

How quickly can employees be onboarded?

Employment contracts generate in under five minutes, and full onboarding typically completes within days.

Are employees paid in their local currency?

Yes. Multiplier processes payroll in local currencies across all supported countries, with statutory deductions applied correctly, and employees receive payslips in their local currency.

What support do employees receive?

Employees get direct access to Multiplier's own local HR and compliance teams for payroll, benefits, leave, and contract questions — not a third-party provider.

Does my company retain ownership of employee IP and inventions?

Yes. IP assignment, invention disclosure, and confidentiality clauses are built into every employment contract Multiplier generates. Your company retains full ownership of IP created by employees hired through Multiplier, across every country we support, with contracts drafted to be locally enforceable.

Can I issue stock options (ESOPs) to employees?

Yes. ESOPs can be issued to employees in most jurisdictions Multiplier covers, structured to match local tax treatment. Contact the team for country-specific guidance.

Is Multiplier compliant with data privacy regulations beyond GDPR?

Yes. Alongside GDPR, Multiplier holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications covering organization-level data security management. Details here.

How does Multiplier protect against contractor misclassification?

Multiplier's Contractor of Record service runs a worker classification check before onboarding. If a contractor is at risk of being classified as an employee under local law, Multiplier flags it and recommends the correct employment structure, protecting you from misclassification penalties in markets.

How long does it take to get started with Multiplier?

Account setup is same-day, employment contracts generate in under five minutes, and most customers have their first employee onboarded within 48–72 hours, depending on country-specific pre-employment requirements.

Does Multiplier integrate with existing HR and payroll software?

Yes. Multiplier integrates with HiBob, Workday, ADP Workforce Now, SAP SuccessFactors, Personio, Zoho People, Oracle HCM, and others.

Do I get a dedicated account manager?

Yes. Every customer gets a named Customer Success Manager from day one — standard on every tier, not a premium add-on.

What level of support does Multiplier provide?

24/5 support from Multiplier's own local HR and legal experts for EOR and Contractor of Record. Global Payroll customers get 24/7 support.

Can I manage multiple countries from one platform?

Yes. Every employee and contractor, regardless of country, is managed from a single Multiplier dashboard — payroll, contracts, expenses, and leave all in one view.

Does Multiplier handle immigration and work permits?

Yes. Multiplier provides visa processing and immigration support in 140+ countries, including work permit applications, dependent visa support, and compliance guidance.

How is Multiplier different from other EOR platforms?

The key difference is entity ownership. Multiplier operates through our own legal entities in every country, not a partner network — which means one accountable team from issue to resolution, with no relay to an outside operator.

How does Multiplier handle payroll errors?

Payroll accuracy runs at 99.95%. When something does go wrong, the same local team that runs payroll resolves it, and you have a named CSM with direct access to the in-country team throughout.

Is Multiplier suitable for enterprise companies?

Yes. The enterprise offering includes custom integrations (Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, ADP), SSO, advanced reporting, and dedicated enterprise support. Contact sales for enterprise pricing and scoping.

Where can I find employment guides for specific countries?

Employment guides for 160+ countries cover labor law, statutory benefits, termination rules, notice periods, and tax requirements.
