In order to employ a foreign national in the Philippines, an organization must obtain an official visa and work permit for the candidate. This requires formal employment by a Philippines entity and navigating through a detailed immigration process. To simplify this, Multiplier offers comprehensive assistance to companies for visas and work permits.

Visa Issuance Time*:

Business Visa: 4-6 weeks

*Initiated after all documents are correctly submitted by the employee. The timeline is dependent on immigration authorities and is based on our case experiences.

Visa Feasibility Check

  • Multiplier will conduct a feasibility check to evaluate if the employee is eligible to apply for a visa in the Philippines
  • In order to conduct the check, a basic set of documents are requested from the employee:
    1. Passport (front and back)
    2. Current country of residence
    3. Job Title/Designation/Salary
    4. Any existing visa
  • Once the desired information is shared, our team will confirm the visa feasibility for the respective employee within 2 working days

Visa Eligibility Check

  • Employee submits the full set of requested documents which are then verified for visa eligibility
  • A kickoff call with a Multiplier Visa Specialist is scheduled

2-3 days once the required documents are duly shared with correct details

Invoicing

  • A visa and deposit invoice is sent to the client post consultation with the CSM

Business Visa (Entry Visa)

  • A Business invite letter is issued to the employee to apply for the Business visa
  • We will get the invitation letter with required notarisation and ship it to the employee’s address
  • Employee needs to book an appointment and submit the invitation letter along with the other required documents 
  • Once Business visa is approved employee can travel to Philippines (can take 4+ weeks)

Job Publication

  • Employers in the Philippines will need to publish job vacancies in a newspaper at least 15 days before an application for an Alien Employment Permit (AEP) is submitted. Additionally, employers will need to submit a notarized affidavit certifying that no applications were received, or no Filipino applicant was suitable for the position

Provisional Work Permit

  • A Provisional Work Permit (PWP) is issued by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to foreign nationals who currently hold temporary visitor visas but wish to commence work in the Philippines while the approval of their employment visa application, either the 9g or 9d, is in progress
  • A PWP is normally valid for three (3) months from the date of issuance or until the 9g visa is issued, whichever comes first
  • Foreign nationals who intend to commence employment while their Alien Employment Permit is pending for approval from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) must also secure the PWP to be allowed to work in the country
  • This work permit is extendible until a work visa has been approved

Onboarding, contract creation and Verification

  • Once provisional work permit is issued then we can get the employment contract signed.
  • After employment contract is signed, member’s details are verified and activated on the platform after which the payroll of the employee starts

AEP Application

  • The Alien Employment Permit (AEP) is a permit issued to a non-resident alien or foreign national seeking admission to the Philippines for employment purposes after a determination of the non-availability of Filipino citizen who is competent, able and willing at the time of application to perform the services for which the alien is desired

9g visa

  • After the AEP is issued, a 9g visa application is submitted. 9g visa approval completes the process.

Detailed Process Overview

  1. Visa Initiation: Initiate a visa request during onboarding. The process will commence after basic details are confirmed. 
  2. Document Submission: The employee will receive an email from us. They must sign up and upload eligibility documents.
  3. Kick off Meeting: A Visa Specialist will guide the employee through the visa process, timelines, information required and align on expected relocation date.

  4. Business Invite Letter: The business Invite Letter is created by the Visa team and notarized copy is mailed to the address of the employee

  5. Appointment for Business visa: Employee needs to apply for the Business visa through the embassy or consulate.

  6. Provisional Work Permit: Once the employee receives the Business visa then he can enter Philippines and we can apply for Provisional work permit which allows employee to work until the 9g visa is approved.

  7. Onboarding Details: Once the provisional work permit is issued, employment contract will be signed and the employee will be requested to upload additional details such as bank details, and work permit details to continue the onboarding process.

  8. Employee Activation: Next, the details are verified and onboarding will be complete and the employee will be activated on Multiplier. After that the in country process will start.

Visa Process for the Employee

  1. Documents collection & review: Eligibility documents are collected from the employee.
  2. Kick off Meeting: Kick off meeting between is held with the employee.

  3. Invitation Letter: Invitation Letter is shared with the employee once the letter is approved by the company and the visa fee is paid for Business visa.

  4. Job Posting: Employers will have to do a job posting of 15 days on newspapers or websites.
  5. Provisional work permit: Once member enters Philippines on Business visa then provisional work permit is applied which allows employee to work for temporary basis until the 9g visa is issued.

  6. Alien Employment Permit: The Alien Employment Permit (AEP) is a permit issued to a non-resident alien or foreign national seeking admission to the Philippines for employment purposes.

  7. 9g visa: After AEP, a 9g visa application is submitted. Once issued, the process is completed.

Important Considerations:

  • Invitation letter for Business visa needs to be notarised from Philippines authorities for submitting at the appointment
  • In case if the 9g visa process gets extended and the employee’s current visa is near to expiry then 9a application needs to be submitted in order to extend the current visa so that the employee can continue working legally
  • Average time to complete the visa process after the employee arrives is 4 to 8 weeks

Both you and the employee will receive regular notifications from our visa team regarding the progress and latest updates in the visa application process.

Kick – Off Meeting

The objective of this meeting is to offer clarity on the various milestones encompassing the entire visa process, along with associated timelines and the documents/information required. It’s important to note that milestones and timelines might differ between countries due to variations in embassy requirements and provided guidelines.

Bi-Weekly Email Updates

The objective is to provide clarity and transparency regarding the status of visa processing.
An email will be sent on a bi-weekly basis to the employee and employer containing the current status and outlining the next steps.

Monthly Updates

Meeting will be scheduled by the Visa Specialist to inform the employee of the current status and upcoming steps.
