Bonus

13th Month Pay:

There is no statutory rule for 13th-month pay in Zimbabwe. However, the employees can receive bonuses from the employer.

Employee Benefits:

  • Pension Benefits: This is a contribution from social security to ensure that the employee gets compensation after retirement.
  • Accident Compensation: Based on the industrial classification, the compensation is allocated as an insurance rate after the risk analysis.
  • Periodical Payments for Loss of Earnings: A compensatory income is provided to the employee where it has been lost or stopped by work-related accidents.
  • Medical Costs: NSSS pays all medical costs related to the injury using Association of Health Funders of Zimbabwe (AFHoZ) rates.
  • Lump-Sum: If the employee is permanently disabled, compensation will be paid as a lump sum if the disability is 30% or less and the monthly pension is less than the minimum pension prevailing at the time of assessment.
  • Funeral Grant: Funeral expenses are entitled if there is a death resulting from a work-related accident or disease.

Employee offboarding

Either the employee or the employer can terminate the employment contract with a notice period based on the years of service. If there is any misconduct on the employee’s part, the employer can terminate the contract without notice.

The notice period in Zimbabwe is 30 days.

The severance pay in Zimbabwe is three months of pay per year.
