Onboarding a contractor can be difficult – particularly if they are based overseas. From labour law compliance, to choosing compensation type, to determining payout frequencies, there’s a lot to keep track of.
In this article, we’ll show you how to onboard, manage and pay global contractors ensuring compliance with local regulations, and maintaining clear records for every contractor you work with.
How to onboard contractors
Step 1: Select employment category
Click on “Hire & Onboard” then select “Contractor” as the employment category to begin entering contractor details.
Step 2: Select tax residency
Use the drop down menu to select the contractor’s tax residency and determine whether they will be hired by Multiplier or directly by your organization.
Step 3: Input contractor details
Enter the contractor’s personal information, including name and email address. Select the contract timeline as part of this step.
Step 4: Enter billing information
Specify the billing rate, which will default to the currency of the contractor’s location. Choose a payout frequency and date that align with company preferences.
Step 5: Add additional compensation
Include any additional compensation, such as commissions or bonuses, if applicable.
Step 6: Choose insurance
Select an insurance option for the contractor if desired, or proceed to the next step without making a selection.
Step 7: Create contract
Generate a contract by either selecting an automatically generated, compliant contract from the platform or uploading a custom contract.
Step 8: Send contract
Review the contract details, then click “Send contract.” Monitor the signing process and make revisions if necessary until the contractor’s joining date.
