What are timecards?

Timecards, or timesheets, are documents that are used by organizations to track the hours worked by their employees. Typically, these are formatted as a grid, providing employees with space to write the date and a breakdown of time spent on each project or task.

Timecard data is fed into payroll systems to ensure that employees get paid fairly. This process also means that key data is recorded for compliance reasons.

These days, many companies use online timecards (such as those provided by Multiplier) which automatically feed into payroll systems. This ensures increased efficiency and ease for employees who can navigate a user-friendly dashboard rather than needing to carry around a pen and paper.

Another benefit of timecards is that they provide companies with an accurate means of monitoring productivity and project timelines. They can identify trends in which tasks take the longest amount of time and allocate resources accordingly. Inside an HR solution such as Multiplier, companies can also view these key insights in streamlined reports.
