Overtime Pay

According to the Labor Code of the Republic of Guinea, the extra hours of work beyond the regular 40 hours a week is considered overtime.  The working hours, including overtime, is limited to 10 hours a day and 48 hours a week. The weekly overtime pay is as follows:

  • 130% of the normal rate for the first four hours of overtime
  • 160% of the normal rate for the remaining

Offboarding & Termination

Except in case of serious misconduct, employees are entitled to at least a 5-day notice stating reasons for dismissal, followed by an interview.  Fixed term employees are terminated at the end of the contract period, while infinite term employees’ termination can be initiated by either party.

The notice period for permanent and probationary employees is 5 days.

Employees with a service period of at least 1 year are entitled to severance pay of:

  • For hourly wage workers – at least 50 hours wage
  • For monthly wage workers – 25% of one month’s wage
