PEO (Professional Employer Organization)

What is a Professional Employer Organization (PEO)?

A Professional Employer Organization (PEO) is a company that provides HR and employment-related services. This most often includes managing payroll, administering benefits, and ensuring that companies are up to date with compliance regulations. PEOs enter into a co-employment arrangement with the businesses they work with, assuming joint legal liability for HR functions.

Hiring a PEO can free up a business’s time, allowing them to focus on their core tasks safe in the knowledge that HR functions are being expertly managed. A PEO is a great idea if you have a domestic workforce to manage because they have a working knowledge of local labor laws.

If, on the other hand, you’re looking to recruit globally, it’s best to use an Employer of Record (EOR) which will allow you to hire without setting up a legal entity in that country.
